Social Media Monitoring

Friday, April 24th, 2009

In light of the recent incident and consequential negativity surrounding Domino’s Pizza, it is a pertinent reminder for companies to be increasingly vigilant and proactive in monitoring their reputation on social networking sites.

The incident, in short, involved two Domino’s employees who filmed deliberate unhygienic handling of the food at Dominos and proceeded to upload the footage to YouTube. Although created with humorous intentions, the footage was in extremely bad taste- damaging Domino’s reputation.

The power of the Internet’s social networking sites has never been more apparent. The Domino’s case highlights the capacity, speed and influence social networking websites have on promoting or demoting a company and brand. The concept of word-of-mouth is no longer restricted to conversations between individuals or groups, but has now reached the mediums of Internet chat, blogs and forums. The descent of a reputation can occur in a fraction of the time it took to build it.

Monitoring social media is now a service offered by some communications businesses, in order to identify and respond to potentially damaging content on social media sites such as YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. Setting up various social networking accounts on behalf of your business and monitoring content daily will enable a response in a timely manner to any potentially damaging content.  This will contribute to impeding and repairing any adverse effects of such content on your business’ reputation.

Website Re-developments

Friday, April 17th, 2009

Connecting Images recently partnered with Portfolio Management Services, Australia’s leading authority in investment property and property management, specialising in the residential, commercial and industrial sectors operating in Melbourne and Sydney.

Portfolio Management Services came to us with a project to redevelop its website, primarily to increase lead generation and conversion.

Firstly, we recommended optimising for specific keywords on different pages on its website, rather than optimising for the same key words on every page in order to drive quality traffic and lead generation.

We saw the purpose of the redevelopment of the website as multifaceted:

  • To provide an online presence consistent with Portfolio Management Services’ positioning as a leading professional service firm.
  • To convey a desirable and compelling corporate image and direct the user to the appropriate pages.
  • To create pages that clearly define the nature of the business and benefits to future customers.
  • To quickly build a trust between users and Portfolio Management Services and differentiates it from its competitors.
  • To provide a succinct and dynamic description of Portfolio Management Services and its services.

The end result of this redevelopment is to drive a desired user action; being the immediate differentiation of Portfolio Management Services from its competitors, and for the user to proceed to sub-pages (specifically property acquisition and property management services). ‘We are happy with the website, it looks great!’ says Phillip Almeida, Acquisitions Manager.

www.portfolioms.com.au was launched last week and we look forward to seeing some great results in the near future!

Connecting Images are experienced at website developments and re-developments and will be able to evaluate your business’ needs and simplify the tech talk to make it a pain free process. To find out more or discuss your business’ web needs, contact Cal on (03) 9819 2566.

The CI team wishes you a happy and safe Easter break

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

Easter remains the only 4-day weekend on the public holiday calendar, and like much of Australia the team at Connecting Images have plans to make the most of this break with family and friends.

Whatever way you choose to spend the holiday, we hope you and yours have a relaxing and enjoyable break, with a moderate amount of chocolate indulgence thrown in to stimulate your happy hormones!

Easter Eggs

Mark intends to take his yacht out for a sail on the bay and is hoping for some sunshine!

Merilyn will be flying down to Tasmania for the weekend to take part in some well-deserved relaxation.

Cal will be camping in the wilderness, well sort of, we think he he’ll be renting a B’n'B. The Grampians is the perfect place for him to indulge his passion for fresh air and adventure.

Sara intends to revisit her childhood with a backyard Easter egg hunt with some friends, and then she’s heading to the Bells Beach surf competition for an event that is quickly becoming an Easter tradition for her.

Cath is spending Easter with her family and looking forward to a well-earned break.

Diane is looking forward to a family reunion with her sister who will be flying over from Perth. Catching up over delicious food is one of Diane’s favourite past times.
